What are tracking devices?
They are devices that can track the movements of an individual, a car or a pet, or any other moving object.

What types of tracking devices are there?
There are many different tracking devices that come in different sizes. The two main versions of GPS trackers you would be looking at are ‘Live Tracking Devices’ and ‘Historical Logging Tracking Devices

Live Tracking Devices
These types of tracking devices allow you to track the current location of a vehicle. Normally you will log into your online account and then click track on your software and it will show you the tracking devices current location. This type of service normally has a monthly, or, ‘per track’ charge. Therefore, this method could become costly over the years if you looking to know where the tracker is 24/7.

Historical Location Logger Tracking Devices
These types of tracking devices typically allow you to place the unit on a vehicle, or a person, and then several days or weeks later, recover the unit, and then download the store information. This will then load into your tracking device manager and you can then view everywhere that tracking unit has gone 24 hours a day for the length of duration you have the unit deployed for. These kinds of tracking devices typically do not have any tracking fees and the only cost involved is the original purchase cost of the unit. These are great units if you are interested in knowing where a person or vehicle has been.

What can they be used for?
Tracking devices are commonly conceived as a device that suspicious partners can use. Although they can be used for this, they can also be used for tracking family members so that you are aware that they are safe and secure. It has even been known for some schools in America to team up with parents to use a tracking device to heighten security and prevent their kids from truanting and low attendance.

Another use for tracking devices could be vehicle tracking and you can do this with live trackers or historic trackers. This can come in handy for keeping an eye on what your car is being used for and can give you a map of where it has travelled. For example, if your car is stolen, you can track it’s current location and go and recover the vehicle.

Tracking devices can also be used to show the whereabouts of a pet. This can be useful if your pet is lost or stolen as it can show you the location of your pet, giving you peace of mind.

The final reason you could use a tracking device is on assets. This can be done if you have valuable assets traveling somewhere by transit. This is useful as they can be at high risk from getting stolen therefore you can see when they safely arrived.

How can I access the information on them?
The information on a tracking device can be accessed on a computer or even on a mobile phone with some devices. Or by plugging them into your computer usb slot and downloading the information.

Where can I find them?
There are many websites on line that sell Tracking Devices and as well as some Private Investigators. They will often advertise them through their websites or through their own individual stores.

How much do they cost?
Tracking devices can range in price, you can pay a one off payment for the tracker or you can pay as you go on live trackers. It is best to look at a few different sites in order to ensure that you receive the best price possible.
